On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are delighted to invite you to attend the 1st European Symposium on Phytochemicals in Medicine and Food (1-EuSPMF) to be held in Belgrade, Serbia on September 7-9, 2022. 1-EuSPMF is organized by the International Association of Dietetic Nutrition and Safety (IADNS) and the Institute of Food Technology and Biochemistry of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, and supported by the Serbian Chemical Society, and the Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE).
1-EuSPMF aims to see into the recent progress in the area of phytochemicals and their implementation in medicine and food. The demand for high-quality food products that have beneficial effects on human health encourages researchers to intensively study natural products. In the light of these principles, we welcome scientists in the various fields to present their latest research and provide an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, discussing challenges, and setting up new research collaborations. We hope that the first 1-EuSPMF conference will meet the expectations of the participants and that its organization will be even more successful in the coming years.
Belgrade is the capital city of Serbia, situated in South-Eastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula, at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. As one of the oldest cities in Europe, since ancient times it has been a crossing point of the roads of Eastern and Western Europe. Belgrade is the capital of Serbian culture, education, science and economy. The inside area of the City of Belgrade comprises over 5,500 streets, 16 plazas and 32 squares, where the oldest is the Student Square, and the most famous one is the Republic Square. Knez Mihailova Street is a pedestrian zone and shopping center – protected by law as one of the oldest and most valuable monumental complexes of the city, with a large number of representative buildings and urban houses built at the end of 19th century. Kalemegdan fortress, which name is derived from the Turkish words kale (fort) and megdan (field), the former historical and urban center of Belgrade, is located in the most beautiful and biggest park in Belgrade, which is also the most important cultural and historical complex. From Kalemegdan, the view of Novi Beograd, Zemun and the plain of Pannonia widely opens. Welcome to charming Belgrade!
